Our Story

If you love the Hungarian cuisine, or would like to discover it, Margaret Island bistro & winebar is the right place to go! Our bistro is a little island in the Island offering something different and unique at the same time. Complementing our bistro style food is a selection of great Hungarian wines from different wine regions of our country. The restaurant is situated on the Strand in Sliema, close to Sliema ferries. From our terrace, You can enjoy the fantastic view of Valletta and Manoel Island. Having seating capacity of 80 seats inside and 60 seats outside in two cosy terraces, we can host bigger events as well as wine tastings upon request. We have an open kitchen: what you see is what you get! We welcome kids in our playground. Our bistro is wheelchair accessible.







Our aim is to represent the excellent world of the Hungarian kitchen in Malta, where homemade flavours meet friendly and quality service. Here we work together as a family encouraging and supporting each other if needed. We come in the restaurant every day with a smile on our face as we all love what we do. We believe this gives that little extra which makes us different.

Have you ever tried Gipsy roast or Budapest steak? Do you know the origin of Goulash soup or the story behind the famous Hungarian red wine, bulls’ blood? Our favourite dessert is Somló sponge cake: not one, but three types of sponge cakes at once in chocolate sauce. To make it more charming, we serve it “Margaret” style with vanilla ice cream.
